PROPERTY TAX REFORM BILL HEADS TO GOVERNOR
The Florida Legislature has approved CS/HJR 1 and it will be sent to the Governor for signature. This bill will place a constitutional amendment proposal on the November 2026 ballot. Impacts are expected to be deep and cuts will be widely applied to city/county services across the State of Florida.
We will be gathering our working groups to assess resources that the Association can potentially provide members as you formulate your local communications strategies to reach your local voters. We will be communicating via eConnect as that is the method that allows us to reach the most of our membership in the quickest fashion. The Florida League of Cities has created a Property Tax Educational Toolkit that is web-based. This incredible resource is loaded with a video message, messaging tools, and excellent information explaining property taxes in general.
The Florida Association of Counties has also created a Keep Florida Thriving web-based resource to assist in better understanding property taxes. This yet another great resource that has a plethora of information pieces to allow the general public to better understand property taxes.
